Two Wolves

Last week I received the following story from a friend by email.

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

"One is Evil - It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

"The other is Good - It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I simply had to share this with you because it perfectly describes my philosophy on life in general. I’m not saying that you should ignore your evil side (we all have a dark side). I simply believe that if you dwell on negativity then negativity dwells with you. On the days when I feel my dark side showing, I have to make a conscious effort to turn my thought train in another direction. I make sure that there is no room in my life for negativity – if you don’t feed it …
